The second batch of Kayayei that acquired skills training under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP) has successfully graduated.
A beautiful ceremony was held for 600 Kayayei trainees who completed the Skills Empowerment Program.
Launched as part of efforts by the government to uplift female head porters, the initiative aims to provide transitional job pathways and enhance socio-economic status among vulnerable communities.
Under the stewardship of the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the program saw participants trained in essential skills including soap and detergent production, baking, pedicure and manicure, bedding, decor, and makeup artistry.
The training, which began earlier this year, culminated in a graduation ceremony attended by enthusiastic beneficiaries from the Madina and Ashaiman campuses.
During his address, Mr. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah reaffirmed the commitment of NEIP to continue supporting the graduates beyond their training period.
“We are pleased to fulfill our pledge of providing each beneficiary with a stipend of 1,000 cedis, ensuring they receive the remaining 500 cedis owed to them. This financial support, coupled with the skills acquired, positions them to forge successful entrepreneurial paths,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Juliet Serwaa, one beneficiary, expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the transformative impact of the program on their lives. “This marks the beginning of our journey as entrepreneurs. With the newfound skills and support received, we are eager to contribute positively to our communities,” she remarked.
The program also included sessions on financial management, business development, and the distribution of starter packs and microgrants, equipping graduates with essential tools for starting their businesses.
Mr. Ofosu Nkansah urged the graduates to leverage their skills and resilience to inspire others, highlighting the potential for their success stories to drive broader societal change.
As the initiative continues to enroll new cohorts throughout the year, the graduation ceremony served as a testament to the transformative power of targeted skills development and entrepreneurship among marginalized communities.
