The government boosted the cash grants to LEAP grantees from GHC 128 to GHC 256 through the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

The government’s commitment to reducing poverty and enhancing the lives of the underprivileged and vulnerable members of society is known as Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP).

During a press briefing, Hon. Dakoa Newman, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, hinted that the government had already released GH103,251,072.01 (one hundred and fifty-one thousand seventy-two Ghana Cedis) to the households of the 324,073 beneficiaries.

She states that thousands of families around the nation are anticipated to get much-needed relief and support from the increased funds, allowing them to more successfully fulfil their basic requirements and make investments in their health in the future.

According to the legislator from Okaikwei South, the one-member household would now get a monthly payment of GHC 256.00 rather than the GHC 128 that has been provided since 2015.

She took advantage of the chance to express her gratitude to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, World Bank, and World Food Programme for their support of the LEAP Programme.
