After the lifeless body of an unidentified man washed up on the beach, residents of the Atsugbor village in the Anloga District of the Volta Region are in a state of shock.

Eyewitnesses estimated the deceased’s age to be between thirty and forty years old, but they were unable to identify him, and there are rumours that he was from somewhere else.

The local assemblyman, Mr. James Fiati, told the Ghana News Agency that the event took place on Friday at about 0500 hours.

He stated, “I got a call in the wee hours of Friday regarding the sad event of a man whose body washed out of the sea.”

Mr. Fiati went on to say that, based on the body’s appearance and several obvious indicators, the tragedy may have occurred over the course of three to four days.

“Some of us are concerned because the fishing season is closed and we don’t think anyone should be in the water for anything that could result in drowning.”

Since then, the Anloga Police have been notified of the event; however, they have not yet taken up the matter.

Since then, the police have placed the deceased’s remains to the Keta Municipal Hospital Mortuary.
