The commissioning of 320 new housing units for the Police Service in Tesano, Accra, by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a significant step towards improving the welfare of Ghana’s security forces.

This accomplishment is a critical first step in enhancing national security and safety and is evidence of the government’s commitment to bettering living circumstances for security personnel.
Speaking to the crowd, President Akufo-Addo congratulated Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Commissioner of Police, on his advancement to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police, overseeing Operations.
The President conveyed trust in Deputy IGP Yohuno’s sustained dedication to promoting a proficient and productive law enforcement agency.

The Security Services homes Project seeks to give the nation’s committed security officers suitable homes.

The President said, “These 320 housing units symbolise our resolve to ensure that those who risk their lives every day to protect us have a safe and comfortable place to call home.”
President Akufo-Addo underlined the need of sufficient housing and said that police personnel’ morale and productivity are greatly increased when they have access to quality housing.

He pointed out that a well-organised police force is more driven and effective by nature. The government hopes to establish an atmosphere where officers can concentrate on their important responsibilities without having to worry about subpar living quarters with the introduction of these new apartments.
The Akufo-Addo administration’s resolve to alleviate the housing shortage within the security services is shown by the commissioning of these housing units.

The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to offering measures that lessen the struggles experienced by police personnel and their families.

This project is a part of a larger effort to guarantee that all Ghanaians, regardless of status or occupation, have access to excellent and reasonably priced housing.

In order to increase the supply of housing for security services, the President gave a brief overview of the Security Services Housing Programme’s history, which was started in 2018.

536 dwelling units have been successfully supplied under Phases I and II of the program by the Ministry of Works and dwelling to date.

After Phase I was finished in 2014, the Bureau of National Investigations in Tema received 168 units. After Phase II was finished in 2018, 368 units were shipped to Tema Newtown for the Ghana Navy.

The Tesano Police Training School’s Phase III, which consists of 320 additional housing units, was completed today.

The flats consist of 112 two-bedroom units and 208 three-bedroom units. Additionally, there is a kindergarten, an officers’ mess, a social centre, and two multipurpose playing courts.

These state-of-the-art, fully furnished facilities are intended to raise the standard of living for law enforcement personnel and their families, fostering an atmosphere that will increase their motivation and operational preparedness.

The advantages of this initiative, according to President Akufo-Addo, go beyond just providing housing. He thinks that the better living circumstances will increase police officers’ and their families’ feeling of security and stability, which will show in their commitment to their jobs.

The initiative is a component of a larger plan to strengthen the capabilities of security agencies, which also includes the supply of cutting-edge tools, superior instruction, and improved working environments.


The President complimented the Ministry of Works and Housing, the Ministry of the Interior, the Police Service, and all other parties participating in the project, acknowledging their combined efforts.

These dwelling units have been completed successfully thanks to their combined efforts.

President Akufo-Addo spoke to the officers who would soon inhabit the new flats in his closing comments, referring to the housing as a prize for their devotion to the country and their loyalty.

He underlined that this commissioning is a component of larger measures to guarantee that security personnel are adequately prepared to serve the country and reiterated the government’s continued commitment to enhancing the living circumstances of all security personnel.

In order to create a Ghana where every person feels safe, protected, and respected, the President formally opened Phase III of the Security Services Housing Project.
