The government has finished preparing for a 2025 reintroduction.
This was disclosed on Tuesday, July 23, in Parliament by Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, at the mid-year fiscal policy review for 2024.

On November 18, 2021, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, the former minister of roads and highways, issued an order stopping toll collection at the many tollbooths located around the nation.
Following his announcement that road tolls had been eliminated at his 2022 budget presentation, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta issued this instruction.
However, the administration has reversed course and approved the creation of a framework for the 2025 reinstatement of road and bridge tolls.
“Mr. Speaker, in addition, Cabinet has approved the payment of an extra 1.5 billion Ghana Cedis to resolve unresolved disputes concerning the financial management companies; the creation of a structure for the reinstatement of road and bridge tolls in 2025,” he said.

Additionally, Dr. Amin Adam stated that “the operationalisation of the integrated property tax system and the amendment of the Fiscal Responsibility Act to reinstate the numeric threshold that was suspended in 2020” had been agreed by the government.
