On Sunday, July 28, in the evening, a fuel truck derailed on the Cape Coast – Takoradi route, splashing petroleum over the road approximately 100 meters before the UCC east gate.

What what caused the truck’s pod to go over is still unknown.

That portion of the route became slick due to the spill, endangering both cars and pedestrians.

Some people were observed putting their lives at danger to gather gallons of spilling petrol.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service were on standby to prevent any unfortunate situation.

Police officers diverted traffic away from the area to avoid further accidents.
