A driver at the Tuobodom-Tanoboase tollbooth in the Bono East area has saved hundreds of lives and homes by operating an articulated vehicle that was carrying canned alcoholic drinks.
About 200 meters from the toll booth, the truck that was transporting products from Tema to Burkina Faso, encountered a brake malfunction.
Witnesses who talked with Precious Media claimed that the driver chose to swerve off the road to avoid hitting passing cars and vendors close to the toll booth after realising the brakes had failed.Residents, overcome with fear, thanked the driver for saving their lives.
They raced to the site to assist the supplier and security guards in getting the products off the road.
Thankful that no lives were lost, the products’ owner, Ahmed Tijani, said he hasn’t even begun to tally his losses.
