Sammy Gyamfi, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) national communications officer, has blasted Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame for how he handled the ambulance issue involving Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the minority leader.

Following the Court of Appeal’s Tuesday, July 30, decision to acquit and dismiss Dr. Forson, Mr. Gyamfi made statements that contradicted the trial court’s directive for him to submit his defence and upheld his appeal of no case.

Mr. Dame declared in reaction to the court’s decision that he intended to appeal it, claiming that it weakens the struggle against impunity and the rule of law.

Mr. Gyamfi accused the AG of putting political interests before of justice during an appearance on Citi FM.

He said that Mr. Dame is the “worst Attorney General” in Ghanaian history and emphasised how “disgraceful” it was for the AG to get a warning from the trial court not to pursue the case he was leading.

The fact that Godfred Dame lacked the grace and fortitude to wait for the Court of Appeal’s decision before making that ‘useless’ public release serves as more evidence of his malice in this entire situation. He thus didn’t even have access to the logic that supported the court of appeals’ ruling when he was characterising the decision as being against the interests of the country at the time.

“So this is clearly a man who is hell-bent, he’s not interested in achieving justice, he’s just interested in oppressing, intimidating, harassing, victimising political opponents for cheap political goal story and that’s why God has exposed him.

“He’s the worst attorney general in the history of this country. The first Attorney General to be cautioned or advised by a trial court to stay away from a matter that he’s prosecuting, that’s how disgraceful Godfred Dame has been reduced to,” he said.
