Over the allowed protest path, there was conflict between the police and the La Coalition demonstration organisers.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 30, the protest aims to raise awareness of suspected unethical land acquisitions by prominent politicians in the Greater Accra Region.
The Trade Fair land, which includes parts of the Labadi Beach and La Palm Royal Beach Hotels, is of special interest to the group.

They claim that the original proprietors have not been paid the appropriate amount as required by law.

Protesters, who include a number of La Traditional Area organisations and groups, are calling for the restitution of state lands that they believe are being unfairly divided up among the political elite.

They have also expressed worries over the Prisons Service properties at Cantonments, where a private developer intends to rehabilitate the region and exploit a portion of it for commercial purposes.

Confusion broke out over the demonstration path during which the police said they could not guarantee the demonstrators’ safety if they marched to Kpletso, which is close to Burma Camp.
The protest’s principal organiser disputes reports that demonstrators planned to march to Kpletso.

“Kpletso is not where we are headed. Fearing for their lives, the cops are reluctant to oppose the military. Instead, we’re going to Christ the King to speak with a government official and make our appeal known, a spokesperson for Channel One News stated.

Additionally, he said that the demonstration organisers had to set up their own protection because the police had first declined to offer it.

As law-abiding citizens, we will accept accountability for any problems that may emerge. We take on challenges head-on. The commander is aware of my nature; I don’t back down from a fight. Let people speak out if they have any issues about our behaviour. However, do not attempt to silence us.
