Police hunt for anti-drug task force members over Yendi man’s death

Five members of an anti-drug addiction task group are being sought by police in the Northern Region in relation to the purported murder of Hudu Abdul Rashid.

A local claims that when Mr. Hudu arrived at Yendi Hospital, he was declared dead.

According to the source, the deceased lost consciousness after falling to the ground after being struck in the neck.

After being taken to the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

As per the information obtained by Joy News, the members of the task force had first gone to the business owned by Mr. Hudu’s wife and accused her of trafficking marijuana.

On July 30, 2024, the task group made a second trip back to face her after a search brought up nothing.

It is said that the task team stole her merchandise and money. The woman responded by phoning her husband to make an intervention.
He and the task force then engaged in combat, which ultimately proved fatal.

In Yendi, Mr. Hudu was buried on Wednesday in accordance with Islamic tradition.

According to sources close to Joy News, a team from the Northern Regional Police Headquarters would work alongside their Yendi colleagues to support the inquiry.
In the Northern Region, many task groups have been established to address the rising drug usage.

Joy News has discovered, nonetheless, that none of these task squads have received approval from the police.
