The agreement with manager Guardiola ends at the conclusion of the next season.
Guardiola expressed uncertainty about his own future after City’s unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title victory, stating that he was “closer to leaving than staying.”

During his eight seasons leading City, the Spaniard has won six league titles as part of his total tally of 17 trophies.

Before City’s preseason match against AC Milan at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, Guardiola told reporters in New York that no decisions had been made.
He clarified, “I didn’t say I was leaving.”

“Seventeen years at the same club is a very long time. I’m not ruling out keeping the deal extended. I want to make sure that the players and the club make the best choice possible.

“I will confer with my CEO and sporting director before making a decision. However, I’d like to get the season started and see how things are going and how bonded we are. We’ll see after that.

Guardiola said he hopes to be in charge for the expanded 32-team Club World Cup, to be held in the United States next summer, but was not sure about the tournament itself, which is at the centre of a dispute between world governing body Fifa and the major players’ unions.

City could end up playing 75 matches across the season, starting with the Community Shield with Manchester United at Wembley on 10 August and potentially ending in the Club World Cup final in the United States on 13 July.
