In a live debate hosted by TV3, Awutu Senya East MP Mavis Hawa Koomson and her opponent, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), got into a furious argument.
What was supposed to be a constituency-focused debate soon descended into personal attacks.
Hawa Koomson attacked her opponent, claiming Phillis lacks knowledge of the issues facing the constituency.
She recommended that the NDC think about running a different candidate in place of Phillis.
She doesn’t stay on top of things. You know, in order to have your facts in order to engage in chew and pour, you need to take some time to study thoroughly, according to Hawa Koomson.
The audience stopped her speech to demand a change in the constituency. She answered, “Yes, you need to change your candidate because she is not, not, not,” in response to their demands. They must alter her.
Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor responded by urging an analytical, issue-based discussion.
She was disappointed at the way the talk was going and stressed the need of having an adult discourse.
“I think you’ll argue over things. Phillis remarked fiercely, “I think we’re here to discuss about topics because I think we’re intellectuals and mature minds.
In response, Hawa Koomson said that she was not as mature as she was.
Nevertheless, I’m older than you are. You are the child I can bear; my second daughter is thirty years old. She remarked, “My first kid is 32 years old.
Further, Phillis dismissed Hawa Koomson’s remarks and asked her to concentrate on the matters at hand.
“Don’t blame the marketing if your product doesn’t sell.”
