Prior to his official nomination and approval as the running mate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was labelled as “arrogant” by some.
Kobina Tahir Hammond (KT), however, believes that this idea and impression of Dr. Prempeh is incorrect.
In his opinion, Dr. Prempeh is a “confident person” who complements Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia admirably as the NPP’s flag bearer and running partner.
Ahead of Dr. Prempeh’s official unveiling as running mate on Tuesday, K.T. Hammond defended him in a media interview in Kumasi, saying that “confidence” was sometimes mistaken for “arrogance.”
That is completely absurd. They come up with all kinds of garbage when they can’t match your level of skill. This hubris stuff is beyond me. During the Joy News interview, K.T. Hammond stated that there are those who mistake confidence for conceit.
The man could be self-assured and knowledgeable in his field. You don’t take it to indicate that you’re arrogant, really. “I think that is total nonsense, but I have heard a few people talk about arrogance,” KT Hammond continued.
K.T. Hammond, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, responded to questions about Dr. Prempeh’s record in the energy and education sectors by saying that while he was not perfect, like any other human being, he did his best to carry out the tasks assigned to him.
“There is no such thing as a flawless human being. There is no such thing as human infallibility. He may have occasionally had issues, but overall, he is reliable and will complement our candidate well and thoroughly,” the speaker stated.
He emphasised that the Bawumia/Napo ticket will “break the eight” and “eliminate” the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the opposition party.
“Observe the area. The NDC have a tendency to speak anything comes into their minds. I thus pray for them if they think that this is a ticket that can be readily answered. I want the best for them. Keep an eye on the area. “We’re going to make history,” said the Trade and Industry Minister.
